PGCE Art & Design exhibition: Private View

Its that time of year when all the hard work from the 36 weeks comes together in an exhibition running for one week only from tonights Private View through Monday to Thurs next week.

The Art & Design PGCE at UCL IOE is a challenging and forward looking course. It is the largest course in the country for initial teacher education of specialist teachers of art and design. Graduates are recruited from a wide range of degree specialism representing the continuum of art, craft, design and critical/historical studies.

The visual display in this years' exhibition demonstrates how artist/teachers explore concerns central to learning and teaching at secondary level. While these thought-provoking and sometimes humorous displays are firmly located in the contest of secondary school teaching, it is evident that by re-engagingn with their own art practice students challenge orthodoxies and question existing boundaries.
