The ARTISTEACHER network on Tuesday 8th July were at The National Gallery's newly refurbished Roden Centre for Creative Learning and were hosted by the magnificent Dr Dean Kelland and the Wolverhampton University PhD students. Our session was titled 'Thinking through Making' and was part of a three day practice residency for the PhD students to explore the gallery collection in relation to their work and interests. The collaboration was an opportunity to think through making and develop new ideas for future work. The evening involved a presentation and discussion on the use of the 'Dialogue Wall', different students stories and approaches to their work and a workshop run by the students for practical making and thinking. It was brilliant to hear the conversations around the different insights and understanding on why 'practice matters'. A big thank you to our host Caroline Smith at The National Gallery.
The next stage of the ARTISTEACHER network will start in the autumn term, so keep and eye out on the Instagram site at _artisteacher_ or email artisteachernetwork@gmail.com for details.
